We’ve not had the pleasure of meeting Trinity Cross. But she is an Oaktown heroine in our book. She owns Field Day, a clothing boutique on 19th St. And, she designs all the clothing which is then made in East Oakland. It gets even more So Oakland: She uses only natural and sustainable fabrics. When possible, she uses deadstock (i.e. leftover over and discarded fabrics from factories and/or companies) and recycled fabrics from sheets too. It’s a genuine localist’s field day trip for thinking and living local. It’s pretty remarkable.
And, there’s an exceptional amount of creative energy there. It’s obvious that she puts so much thought into her designs and work into her shop. The immense labor of love is also evident in the vast inventory of mostly dresses–but also pants, blouses and shirts, and jackets. It all leads us to wonder if she even has time to enjoy life.
And, while we are definitely not seasoned fashion journalists, we can clearly see that she is making clothing for women who strive to live life to the fullest. It all comes through in the quality, comfort, and style–not to mention the fashion flexibility to meet the needs of varied occasions of everyday life.
We surmise that Trinity is a woman who lovingly makes no compromises when it comes to Field Day fashion, sustainability, inclusivity, and passion for doing what’s right.
Trinity, when do we get to meet you?
