Laurel District is special. We love that it’s mixed and so very diverse. Some say it’s the last true Oakland neighborhood. But, it’s probably not known as a big shopping destination. What it does have is a community of energetic proprietors that are basically hidden gems in plain sight. If you love Oakland, this strip of MacArthur Blvd is a must see because it’s So Oakland.
And one of the shops that epitomizes the vibe of this neighborhood is LaliSimone.
We had heard that shopping at LaliSimone is like having your own personal designer-stylist working with you at a fashion show. Sure enough, when we walked in, a couple of regulars were having a riot exploring fierce fashion ideas. The music was pumping which added to the already energetic scene.
Clearly, LaliSimone is a small and intimate space that packs some punch. And that punch is owner and stylist Judith Soto and her overflowing stock of carefully curated vintage clothing, shoes, jewelry, handbags, and accessories. Please don’t go there to look for a specific 50’s vintage skirt or an 80’s new wave outfit. She may have them but the real fun of shopping with Judith is the exploration of personal style. Trust in Judith to help create your own look that is expressed through vintage clothing. Believe that she’ll take you on a journey where you’ll happily arrive at your fashion statement. Live in her vision, creativity, love, and depth of knowledge of fashion. Truly, you can’t buy that on the internet!
