Hill’s Shoes of Oakland is an Oakland Classic

Hill's Shoes of Oakland Hill’s Shoes of Oakland! What an authentic black-owned old-school Town Biz men’s shoe store you are! We don’t think we’ve ever seen a collection of shoes for men quite like it. Each pair is a statement for the men who have a bold, unique sense of style, discerning taste, and an appreciation of urban fashion.

Yes, we imagined the men wearing those shoes with their impeccable suits or in their flare casual. And, we think many an Oaktown musician or performer must pick up something original for their wardrobe. Of course, we mused that we’d want to meet every one of your customers! This place is genuine Oaktown.

But you’re closing on March 31, 2020 because the laws have changed: Snake/crocodile skin products are going to be banned. And that is a major piece of your business.

Still, we wonder, could there have been a path forged to keep you going? Where was the support from the City of Oakland?

Every time we lose a genuine Oakland Indie, we lose a little of our So Oakland vibe. We’re sad that we have to say goodbye to this Oakland Classic.
