We challenge you to visit Mulberry’s Home and not buy anything. Not really, we know you’ll want to buy something, and you should! Honestly, you won’t be able to help it. Owner, Chad Olcott, is totally prepared to help you make your home homey-er. And, when we visited his home decor emporium a few weeks ago, we spied tons of potential. It’s a So Oakland shop local gift.
Why? Because Chad obviously has a gift… Indeed, he’s the “straight guy with a design eye.” And, he is a gift too. It’s so much fun chatting with him about all things home-y and his eyes light up like the blue chandelier we coveted. His passion is infectious. We can say with 100% certainty that we’d rather spend our hard-earned money at Chad’s Oaktown shop than at some seedy, bland, and ubiquitous Corporate retailer run by money-hoarding billionaire executives.
So what does he have? For one, an eclectic taste that is warm and, oftentimes, fun and quirky. For another, an expansive collection. His large showroom has furniture: Sofas, chairs, tables, side tables, and coffee tables, benches, and shelves. He’s got home accessories like blankets, lamps, candles, bar glasses and tools, vases, and fine rugs. We love to wander through the merchandise and ooh and aah over the curios that make great conversation starters too. And, of course, he has advice. Based upon his extensive background in design, he’ll happily help you make your house feel like your home. You just can’t buy that on the internet.
We could go on but, we’re sure you get the idea!
