The Raven’s Wing Magical Co.

by | Dec 15, 2020

When you read about “top reasons to shop local,” one of them is going to be something like this: When you shop local you are actually supporting a merchant and your neighborhood. Certainly, we’ve called this benefit out more than our fair share of occasions.
But perhaps less obvious is that merchants nurture us. The relationship is much more symbiotic than the usual “shop local” explanations. It’s certainly much more meaningful than any ecommerce behemoth interactions you might dabble in. And this too has been an important theme for us to explore.
The Raven’s Wing Magical Co. has been an Oakland favorite since first opening (under a different original name) in 2007. We have always been a store that embraces our neighborhood, watching Lake Merritt bloom stronger and brighter every year. In 2016, we took a huge leap to found a sister store in SE Portland, and both stores now serve their neighbors with pride. We focus on the magical supplies that people need, but more essentially, we focus on sharing information and experience that helps people do their own magic. Our candle dressing bar, mojo bag station, and community altar have been an important place of empowerment for countless members of our community. We do our best, with the products we choose, with our availability even during this critical time, and with caring for our staff.
We promote our staff as readers because we believe in their ability to guide our clients with kindness and integrity. We host astrology discussions, tarot  lessons, chakra workshops and various ritual spaces (right now only virtually) because our mission is about sharing magic, creating magic, and changing lives for the better through magic.  We try to respond to client requests for what they want to learn, and what products they want to see. All of us take pride in helping folks discover the next steps on their spiritual path.
